Learning Center - User Guide
What the Learning Center is
The Learning Center is your in-app onboarding and guidance hub for GRC for Jira.
It helps you:
Understand what you can do based on your assigned GRC roles.
Follow step-by-step learning paths to complete key workflows.
Track progress automatically so you can resume later.
How to open the Learning Center
Open GRC for Jira in your Jira instance.
In the app navigation, select Learning Center.
Tip: If you don’t see Learning Center in the app navigation, contact your Jira administrator to confirm you have access to the app.
What you’ll see on the Learning Center page
Your Access
This section shows the GRC roles currently assigned to you.
Why it matters:
Your roles determine which actions and screens you can access.
Some learning steps may not be visible or usable if you don’t have the required permissions.
Resume your learning
If you have started any learning paths, you’ll see a Resume section.
You can:
Continue where you left off.
Switch between multiple in-progress paths (if you started more than one).
Learning paths
Learning paths are grouped into domains (for example: Administration, Compliance, Risk, Governance).
Each path card typically shows:
Path name and short description.
Your status (Not started / In progress / Completed).
A progress indicator.
Actions such as Start, Continue, or Restart.
Starting, continuing, and restarting a path
Start
Select Start to begin a learning path.
What happens:
The Learning Center will open the first step (milestone) for the path.
Your progress is saved automatically.
Continue
Select Continue to jump to the next step you have not completed.
Watch video
Some learning paths include a video walkthrough.
Watching a video does not change your learning progress by itself (your progress is tracked when you complete milestones in the interactive flow).
Restart
Select Restart to reset your progress for that learning path.
Notes:
Restart only resets learning progress. It does not delete Jira issues or other artifacts you created.
You can restart a path to re-learn a workflow or when practicing.
How guided steps work (Spotlight)
When you launch a step, the app may show a Spotlight (a guided overlay) that highlights the next UI element you should use.
You can usually:
Follow the highlighted action to complete the step.
Choose a button like Continue or Got it (wording may vary).
Return to the Learning Center using Back to Learning Center.
If the highlighted element is not available (for example, due to permissions or a different screen layout), the app will show guidance so you can still proceed.
Prerequisites (“Prerequisites not met”)
Some paths require prerequisites before you can Start or Continue. Examples:
You must complete another learning path first.
You must have a required GRC role.
You must have access to an expected Jira artifact (like a specific issue).
If prerequisites are not satisfied, you’ll see a message explaining what’s missing and what to do next.
Common fixes:
Complete the required learning path first.
Ask your Jira admin to grant the required role/permissions.
Confirm the referenced Jira issue still exists and you have access to it.
Completion and progress tracking
Your learning progress is tracked per user.
What is tracked:
Which paths you started.
Which milestones you completed.
Which step to resume next.
Progress is designed to be safe and non-destructive:
Learning progress does not modify your Jira permissions.
Restarting learning does not delete real work items you created.
FAQ
Why do I see a learning path that I can’t fully complete?
Some learning paths are visible to everyone so you can understand what exists in the product, even if parts of the workflow require roles you don’t currently have.
I clicked Start/Continue and nothing useful is highlighted.
This can happen if:
You don’t have permission to see the intended UI element.
The page layout is different (for example, different configuration or screen size).
The element loads later (after a spinner or async data load).
Try:
Waiting a moment for the page to finish loading.
Refreshing the page and selecting Continue again.
Verifying your roles in Your Access.
Will completing learning steps change production data?
Some steps may guide you through creating or updating real Jira issues/artifacts, depending on the path.
If you are unsure whether you’re working in a safe environment, confirm with your administrator whether you’re using a test project/site.
